Yadira is the secretary at Gian-Grasso, Tomczak & Hufe P.C. She was born in Sanchez Ramirez Cotui, Dominican Republic. Yadira came to the United States when she was just 4 years old to reunite with her parents. Since then, she has made Philadelphia her home, where she currently lives with her daughter.
After graduating with excellent marks from High School, Yadira, like many youth in the U.S., was faced with the harsh reality of not being able to continue on to college due to her legal status. Fortunately, Yadira did not let her legal situation hold her back. She continued to work hard and support her daughter, all the while hoping the law would one day change. In 2012, Yadira benefitted from DACA, but knows there is still much more work to be done to achieve comprehensive immigration reform.
In addition, Yadira has experienced firsthand the injustice and family separation that plagues our U.S. immigration system. She uses her personal experience each day at GTH to assist those in similar situations. Yadira is fluent in English and Spanish. After 2yrs of working at GTH, Yadira has learned more about the hard work that goes into keeping families together and just how much more needs to be done until there is an immigration reform. By continuing to work on the diverse cases that come across the office it has been an eye opening experience to see the things that happen on the other side of the fence. Being able to have a hand in helping others achieve legal status and simply helping families stay together has been one of the best experiences in this field. This has simply cemented the will and drive, to continue to work hard and thrive for a better future not only for herself but also for her daughter and to be a positive influence to the community.
